* To automate and interconnect the 121 rural banks and savings and loans institutions and to provide other improvements in the national payments systems that will draw a large number of people currently not served or under-served into the financial system.
MiDA is engaged in the commercial development of Farmer Based Organizations. Training of farmers to ensure improvements in crop husbandry and on-farm infrastructural developments aimed at improving the risk profile of value chain operators and thereby enhance the viability of their financial proposals and their own attractiveness and to financiers, are major components of the CDFO.We believe that market and commercially oriented agricultural activities hold the key to attracting sustainable financing. For it is only when farmers produce what the market wants that they increase the chance of generating the cashflows needed to service credit. An improving credit record will increase the confidence of the banking sector which would then channel more resources to the sector.MiDA is ready to support any efforts aimed at creating and sustaining a better relationship between the financial services sector and the agricultural sector. We therefore look forward to a successful Workshop, and more importantly, outcomes that will be translated into reality for the benefit of our hardworking, but poor countrymen engaged in the Agric Sector.
