Ghana Compact One

Agricultural, Road and Infrastructure Transformation

Overview

The Millennium Development Authority (MiDA) was established by the Government of Ghana as the accountable entity for implementing the MCC-funded Ghana Compact. It managed all operations, procurement, and coordination with government and development partners. At the time, agriculture contributed about 40% of GDP and employed 60–70% of the workforce, with over 80% of production from small rain-fed farms averaging less than 1.2 hectares. The Compact targeted these structural challenges to drive agricultural transformation and reduce poverty. Interventions were implemented across three zones: Northern Agricultural, Afram Basin, and Southern Horticultural.
