Transforming Energy Access Across Ghana

Overview

The Ghana Power Compact was a $316 million partnership between the Government of Ghana and the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), signed in 2014 to improve the reliability, affordability, and sustainability of electricity. It concluded in June 2022 with significant impact on Ghana’s energy sector and economic development.

Impact

The Ghana Power Compact has significantly improved the quality of life for millions of Ghanaians, reduced costs and inefficiencies in electricity distribution, strengthened institutional capacity within the energy sector, created a strong foundation for sustained private sector investment, and enhanced economic productivity across multiple sectors.
