Understanding your constitutional right to access information

Constitutional Right

“All persons shall have the right to information, subject to such qualifications and laws as are necessary in a democratic society.”

This means every person in the jurisdiction of Ghana, citizen or non-citizen has the right to information. It is in line with this regulation that Ghana Commodity Exchange has set up the Right to Information (RTI) Unit.

 

MiDA RTI Unit

Millennium Development Authority has established the Right to Information (RTI) Unit, spearheaded by the Monitoring and Evaluation Directorate, assisted by a designated RTI officer who have been trained to process applications for access to information.

Application Process

The processes the public/applicant is expected to follow when making an application for access to information in a public institution is specified in Section 18 of the RTI Act 2019, Act 989.
